College Class of 2017

DC is fun to visit but the Metro is terrible. Especially if you get stuck on it during rush hour…

I’ve decided to bump this thread and become the sole spammer of…CL!

Yeah…College Life!

It just doesn’t have the same ring as HSL ;)

Edit: SerenityJade posted right as I posted this…

Looks like you can never escape them…

^Me, Niquii77?

I’m pretty sure whoever started this thread [JuniorMint] said “even if you are not graduating college in 2017, you are welcome to talk with us.”.

My new laptop that I just ordered yesterday:
[Razer Blade: The World’s Thinnest Gaming Laptop - Razer United States](Razer Blade Gaming Laptops - Laptop Computers for PC Gaming💻 | Razer United States)

Isn’t she beautiful? I think she’s a great use of scholarship money. I’m going to name her Karina.

And on a secondary note, what does everyone think about Microsoft’s changes with the Xbox One? Has it changed any minds yet? I’m not getting a console, after buying Karina, but I think this is a very different fight than the one we had in the current generation.

Personally, I am actually torn, because the Xbox One represents a new paradigm shift in gaming, from a console primarily built for games to a console built for everything, with gaming as one of its functions. This is opposed to Sony’s more traditional PS4, which just looks like a PS3 on steroids.

I’d get an Xbox One (if I were to buy a console, which I’m not), but the extra $100 and the apparent uselessness of some of its promoted features (Live TV, I’m looking at you!) seem too much a price to pay, even if I am supporting a shift in the paradigms of gaming.

^Seriously…a blade?

There are better laptops for a much better price, as I am sure you are aware, but yes, that laptop is so nice! However, does it burn up a lot?

Also, the Razer Blade is not comparable to a console. It is really underpowered. Like it has the graphics card of a $1000 laptop.

Finally. I think the value of the Xbox One might be more than a PS4 as they both have the same type of hardware, but the Xbox One has better exclusives, a camera that can eventually connect to your PC and a controller that can connect to your PC.

P.S: At least it’s better than buying an Alienware…

Also, make sure you are the only one using it. 128 GB is usually only enough for one or two people, and with a system like that, you really don’t want to clutter it up.

This is the tablet i bought

[Asus - Transformer Pad Infinity Tablet with 32GB Memory - Gray - TF700T-B1-GR - Best Buy](http://m.bestbuy.com/m/e/product/detail.jsp?skuId=5717344&pid=1218686513247)

Xbox? better? Better exclusive? No they just have more exclusive. Ps4 have better exclusive. And let face it all you really need on a console are Netflix, games, cam, share functions, and YouTube. Not all these extra stuffs.

@Jazzii: On “Computer”, I’ll be reaching my final decision after July. I being waiting for the new processor to come out. Now I’m waiting for more of those laptops with them in it to come out.

Yes, I agree that the Blade doesn’t offer quite the power of an Alienware M17x or the like that you could get at the same price, but it is much better than a console. The Blade has a Haswell chip (i7-4702HQ, 2.2/3.2 GHz Base/Turbo), which is far beyond the PS4/Xbox One’s 1.6 GHz AMD Jaguar chip, which is closer to a tablet processor than a regular computer.

Graphically, the Blade’s Nvidia 765M is more than comparable to the console GPU’s, which are theorized to be equivalent to a AMD Radeon 7790. I can’t find any benchmark tests that directly measure these two GPU’s, but, from what I’ve seen from different comparisons, they are very similar in performance.

So the Blade may be a different type of laptop, and it may have a different focus than pure gaming desktop-replacements, but it is still beyond a console performance-wise.

And I’m taking it to college…who else is going to use it?

Also, buying an Alienware is not the worst purchase you can make if you are looking for high level gaming performance while sacrificing everything else. It has the best specs in non-custom built gaming laptop at that price (the ~$2300 range).

I’m getting an Alienware computer this Christmas. I gotta power my Sims somehow! :p

Alienware? they are a scam. Might as well get the Lenovo ideapad if you want to play the Sims (like me).

Yeah, Alienware is a bit…scammy.

I mean the prices they charge are criminal! They marked 8 GB of Ram to $200+, but its true value is $50 [yes, I am talking about laptop sdram]

Also, there are MUCH MORE POWERFUL, PRE-BUILT LAPTOPS!!!

Asus’s G Series laptops look better [IMO; they were designed to look like stealth fighters], have way better graphics cards and have a better warranty/customer support system [It is one of the few computers that I know of that carries fire insurance]

Also, MSI builds some sick gaming laptops for a good price.

Lastly, here is a GPU Benchmarking site:[PassMark Software - Video Card Benchmark Charts](http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/)

As you can see, nearly all of the M Cards [Mobile] are not equal at all to their desktop version

Simply put, that was a waste of money. As nice as it is, as cool as it looks, it really isn’t performing to its price.

However, it is nice for what it does, and perhaps it is worth it. It’s the same reason why people buy Macs…

Getting a high performance gaming laptop to play the sims…lol.

I wasn’t being serious. :p

I’m not getting an Alienware computer. Ever.

Once, I get my MacBook, I might put Sims on my old laptop or if one of my family members gets a new laptop, I’ll take theirs over. I want to get into coding some mods and customs.

Just build your own computer…

That is what I did. It saves money and gives you a much better computer than you could every buy from a manufacturer.

“Just build your own computer” requires the knowledge of technology to build one from parts.

Hey, guys! I wasn’t too active on the “High School Class of 2013” thread, but hopefully that will change now. I’m Rolando, and I’ll be attending the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign (wow, what a long name :/).

I really am wondering, did a lot of you choose your major based on where your passions lie or practicality? I’ve really been struggling with this for some time now…

I agree with Serenity. Some people don’t even care to obtain the knowledge. There’s reason why people but non-custom computers.

Hmm…why did I choose my major? I’m good with in science. I want a six figure salary. It’s tolerable, if not enjoyable.

Because I wanted to be an inventor. Then I started researching career majors and basically engineering was what I wanted
