I'm applying as a transfer, and Smith requires that you send official course descriptions of the classes you're currently enrolled in. Should I just have my school make copies of these and send them along? I never had to do that during my first round of applications, so I'm a bit unsure.

Smith has to evaluate all the courses you have taken/are taking to determine which ones it will accept as transfer credits. I would imagine your current school has to send that information to make it official. S&P, is there anything else?

I honestly have no idea. I don’t know if it makes much of a difference if it comes from your school or from you, but probably better to come from your school if possible.

My D sent descriptions from the course catalog and a copy of the syllabus (she transferred last year).

I actually had the same question (the wording on the supplement was kind of unclear) and spoke to a woman in admissions today on the phone about the same thing. She just told me to compile all of the course descriptions in a word document and upload it along with the supplement. From what I understand, I think it’s only engineering students that have to send along the entire syllabi for their courses.

radiosonde: Where are you applying to transfer from?

A public university in Pennsylvania. That’s mainly why I called and asked the question, because my school is so big we ONLY have the course catalog online. There would have been no real way for me to send photocopies in to Smith.

I was waitlisted at Smith when I applied as a senior in H.S., so here’s to hoping that carries some weight! How about you, where are you applying from?

I’m applying from a big university in MA, so we’re in similar situations. I’ve never applied to Smith before, though. Have you sent in your app/gotten your logon ID yet?
