College Courses as Senior in High School and Admissions

As a senior in high school, I have taken four college courses thus far, and I have been placed in a predicament where I need to complete a Postgraduate year before heading off to college. I know that there is some rule that once you have earned a certain amount of college credits you are considered a transfer student. (I have 12 credits, and I don't plan on using AP scores for credit) I really do not want this to happen as I am aiming for top colleges like Stanford and UPenn where transfer acceptance rates are absurdly low. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew how many college courses I could take next year before being considered a transfer student. Any advice would be great appreciated!

Not sure of total that would take you beyond freshman application status but it varies from college to college so you need to check with each college to which you want to apply. What it will depend on is number taken after high school because those taken while still in high school generally won’t count towrds making you a transfer applicant rather than a freshman applicant.

i’m pretty sure that you’re only a transfer student if you’ve been enrolled in a college after graduating high school. it probably depends on what you’re going to do in your postgraduate year. if you’re planning on enrolling in a postsecondary institution, then it’s probably likely that you will be considered a transfer student. but if you’re planning on volunteering or working or something like that, you should be fine as a freshman candidate.
