Would I be a freshman or transfer applicant?

I've taken two classes for college credit and I will take two more next year through a program that gives college credit through the high school. I potentially will have 17 credits if I pass the two classes next year. Would I apply as a freshman or a transfer student?

Depends on the school, but most that my son has looked at you apply as a freshman, as long as you have not taken a break from school after HS.

I graduated HS with 60 credit hours but because of my age they considered me a freshman. However, if you don’t get accepted as a freshman, they might put your application with the rest of the transfer students.

I would apply as a freshman though, they should have areas for dual enrollment courses/AP credit.

This university that I started to apply to said that if I had 10 college credits or more than I’m considered a transfer for some reason. Thanks for all your help. :)

Usually, if you take the courses as dual-enrollment while you are in high school, the college will expect you to apply as a freshman. If you aren’t certain, or of their application form is not clear, call them or ask them in an email.

When schools talk about the number of college credits for transfer admissions, they mean only college courses taken post-HS.
