Hello all,
I am currently struggling between attending Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science and my state school for Computer Science. I know that Carnegie Mellon has a much better program and will provide an outstanding education. However, I really enjoy the atmosphere of my state school and will be able to attend for a much lower cost. Any help on this topic would be much appreciated.
First off, congrats on CMU! That’s an extremely competitive program! What kind of price difference are we talking though? And what state school? If you are really passionate about computer science and your school offers a decent program, I’d say save the money (CMU is hella expensive) and go there if you like it more. CMU is a pressure cooker school, and a degree in computer science is quite valuable from any school. You’ll definitely be able to find a good job regardless of where you go.
Good luck, hope this helps!
Thank you. I would be paying full price for Carnegie Mellon and about 20k a year for my state school which is CU Boulder.
