Please help! I am deciding between Tulane, BU honors and Villanova. I will most probably major in economics. If someone can please help me rank these schools I would really appreciate it!!
BU honors is amazing
@Internl23 why would you hesitate? Of course choose BU honors!!! better city. better university, better program
@cloe.salas @normanf Do you know what the feel of the university is like? The day I visited the day was horrible and my tour guide gave the impression that it was a very lonely place.
@Internl23 if you tulane is better then choose tulane, but what I want to say that sometimes you cannot make you decision base on a bad tour guide. I think you should do more research. no one can tell which decision is the better for you. What I said is in general I think BU is better. If I got BU honor and Tulane I will choose Bu.
Having been to Boston and New Orleans many times, the “better city” is clearly not Boston. DD is loving Tulane, but I don’t have any observations on its econ department in comparison to the other schools you mention. I will say that the “rank” of schools, based on USNWR or other “rankers” has little to do with your experience at a school. If you’re majoring in econ, you really care about the econ department, not the ranking of a school based on all the silly metrics they use to rank.
@intern123 It sounds like you need to visit again, right away. Ask to sit in on a class, go to the cafeteria. Talk to the students. You can’t let a rainy day or bad tour guide make your choice. That being said, when we visited BU the tour guide was poor and the vastness of the campus seemed overwhelming. Tulane is a friendly environment, small enough to walk the entire campus in 15 minutes.
If you can’t visit since you need to make a decision now-- read the list of requirements for the major. Ask the admissions dept to put you in touch with a current student and talk on the phone about the environment, the courses, etc.
Good luck! You can’t go wrong they are all good schools.
They are both good schools, but vastly different environments. What type of campus do you prefer? BU is in downtown Boston, its not going to be that “typical college campus”. While Tulane is in New Orleans, it is uptown and it a pretty compact campus. More of that traditional campus feel, everything centered around quads. Tulane also has a smaller enrollment. The two schools couldn’t be more different.
