Case is not a military school, and never was. The “reserve” part makes it sound like one…

Well if you didn’t take any classes at Case, why would the new school talk to anyone from case? It’s not like you’d be sending any paper work from case to a new school.

Honestly, there is no rush to get through college, either. Maybe try taking CC classes this fall. I have friends who are 20/21 and never went to college, another who is graduating when he’s 23/24, college is always going to be there. I’m sure it’s very frustrating at the moment and it probably feels like a big deal and that you’re behind, but trust me, enjoy having time off away from school and a career. If you go back in the spring, with your AP credits you’d only be 2 semesters behind, and with summer courses you could catch up. Rushing things is a bad idea. In hindsight, I really wish I took time off, and took care of things, but I’ve stayed in school and things still haven’t been that much better. The stress of college does not help. I’ve been very fortunate to have really amazing/understanding friends, but the best thing would have been to put things on hold for a year and sort through everything.

I know a year and a half off seems like a lot, but it’s really not. These types of things take a lot of time to work out. The biggest thing I’ve learned the last 2 years is not to rush things. Be patient, and things will work themselves out. Case is probably a really good choice, because there are a lot of qualified dr’s nearby, the school is smaller and not overwhelming, a lot of people are open minded, and everybody has their quirks, which makes it easier to fit in. Yes, the admin sucks, and they’re hard to work with, but try to compromise with them and see if you can work something out for the fall. Try and go for commuter status maybe. It sounds like you weren’t in much contact with them during your year off, so try and lobby them to change things. There is always someone higher up to talk to.
