college disciplinary record and medical school admissions

So I have been cited by my campus police(not real police, as no formal charges e.g. misdemeanor or felony) for underage drinking. All charges are school records, all referred to our university's judicial board. How will this impact medical school admissions because these things are obviously looked at.

No hard and fast answer to this as it depends on a whole lot of soft factors–like which schools you apply to, your year at the time of the offense (freshmen have more time to put some distance between them and the offense than do juniors), whether you display a pattern of reckless/thoughtless behavior, the exact charge, what remediation you’ve done w/r/t the offense, etc.

Some schools will overlook a single slip-up; other schools won’t tolerate any drug/alcohol charges.

tl;dr–you haven’t totally tanked your chances, but you didn’t do yourself any favors either.

You will have to report the offense on AMCAS since you have to report all IAs. Be honest. Better to report the IA than to get caught lying on your application–which in the eyes of adcomms is a far, far more serious issue.

yeah, you can answer no to the felony/misdemeanor questions but the disciplinary policy or institutional action question needs to be yes.
