Anyone have access to past exams that they could share? I've looked everywhere online, and have only found 2004 Semi & Open, and a couple of IBOs (some in Russian).

synthetic biology. ftw

Hey, I have a few questions..
1. Does it look THAT great on college apps if I just get past the 1st round? I'm not sure if I should even bother to ask my teacher/counselor to sign up.
2. Are the test questions directly from the Campbell book? Are they specific questions or more general? And what chapters? Will there be stuff from Ch.1-5 (chemistry review, water)? Will there be a lot of Cell Parts/Organelles, and Cell Membrane Questions? How bout mitosis/meiosis? Thanks!

@ insubvert: That doesn't tell much. 70% in AP Bio is a 5

man my school doesnt even do this...although i probalby woulndt pass with this honors bio in 9th grade

all the science departments are lazy, im basiclaly forcing my chem teacher and local acs to do them olympiad

the math department is so much better than science

What's this? I've never heard of it before. Maybe I'll try this year. If not perhaps next year though I doubt I could do it with apps.

Bumpppp. Any suggestions for which Chapters are the most important guys? Cause I can't really read the entire book..I just started studying a few weeks ago and am on Chapter 13 (meiosis). Which Chapters between 13-55 are the most important? And how are you guys studying? Just reading the boring text? Thanks!

Bump! No one is interested in USABO??

Then you're not trying hard enough :)

^ Haha, I mean, the test is basically in one month..I doubt I could read 1000 more pages in one month, with all the other stuff I have to do..study for Finals, other homework, AMC 12, SAT, extracurriculars..etc.

Also, just reading through the entire book wouldn't guarantee a qualification would?

One question- I was looking through past questions on the website, and the theoretical questions were weird..it was like calculating stuff..how is that in the Campbell book? Thanks

just reading through the entire book wouldn't guarantee a qualification
What were you asking again?

do you think i could get to semi's by just reading the book or would i have to memorize key terms and processes as well

I just wanted to let everyone know that I got random Chem teacher to sign up for the USABO. So all my studying wasn't in vain. YAY! I'm sooooo happy right now :D

Yeah. Science teacher signed us up. :o

Yeah but originally my AP Bio teacher and science club teacher wouldn't sign me up because they were too lazy...I started to get depressed since I studied since last year...but now this nice chem teacher signed me :)

so who's officially going to do USABO?

Me for sure :)

I hope so, I haven't gotten word back on whether the school will pay for it.

How hard is the USABO compared to like a final exam in a (top) college biology class?

USABO definitely goes deep in to college bio, molecular and plant especially..could you give an example of a college bio tests?
