<p>So I am a writing an admission essay for UPenn and the limit is at 500 words. Do you think it's bad if my essay is 260 words?</p>
<p>Admissions personnel for colleges have often mentioned you can over a little but should not a lot. They have also mentioned that any applicant who firmly believes he cannot possibly edit his essay to a point close to the word limit is greatly mistaken.</p>
<p>If you truly believe you got your point across as eloquently as possible, then you’re fine. That being said, it’s hard to believe that you’re not struggling to stay UNDER the word limit. That’s usually the problem.</p>
