College Essays: Mentioning another Institution?

Hi all,

I’m writing a supplement for one of my regular decision colleges, and part of my essay is me connecting what I did over the summer in a lab to my future goals etc(ignore the content of essay). So if I mention another college’s name, for example “During my summer lab at the ____ research center at X University”, is it bad?
My college counselor said that’s ok but I just want to confirm. I am worried that the college will just think “well why doesn’t he just want to go to that X university then if he did research there?”
I did this for a few other schools’ essays too.

NOTE: This is NOT the infamous “recycled essay and accidentally forgot to change the institution name” phenomenon.

Thanks!

I think that it would be fine!

Many applicants attend summer programs at different universities that offer those programs.

I don’t think it would be a big deal if you included it. I actually think the summer program would make admissions officers learn more about what you like to do in your free time, which is a good thing.

Thanks! And also the summer lab was at the University like near where I live, in contrast to the university i’m applying to which is many states away, so it probably makes sense
