I have heard of how hard writing a college essay can be. Since the you SAT or ACT score and your gpa can tell only so much about you, the essay is a big apart of the application process.
Does anyone know, what types of questions they ask, and any advice on how to answer them .
On question in particular. Why do you want to come to ____ (this school?)
Any Help would be greatly unappreciated thank you

Any Help would be greatly **appreciated thank you

my bad =[

I'd help ya but you said "Any Help would be greatly unappreciated thank you" so I don't know how much you'd appreciate my help :-P

Generally college essay questions are:
"Why do you want to attend our school"
"What extracurriculars/activities have had the most impact on you and why"
"Name one person who has made the greatest impact on your life and why"

It really depends on the college. I know some colleges are starting to go with really unconventional questions, such as "Write a 2 page story about a sandwich, panda and a parade". Others may allow you to chose an essay topic of your choice.

[quote]
- Evaluate a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dilemma you have faced and its impact on you.
- Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.
- Indicate a person who has had a significant influence on you, and describe that influence.
- Describe a character in fiction, a historical figure, or a creative work (as in art, music, science, etc.) that has had an influence on you, and explain that influence.
- A range of academic interests, personal perspectives, and life experiences adds much to the educational mix. Given your personal background, describe an experience that illustrates what you would bring to the diversity in a college community, or an encounter that demonstrated the importance of diversity to you.
- Topic of your choice.

This are the 6 essay choices on the Common Application for the previous (as well as upcoming) application season....of course I'm not sure whether you mean general college essays or an essay specific to a college e.g. "Why do you wish to attend this school?"

You should have posted this in the Essay forum for better response.

The 'why do you want to come here' question is your opportunity to demonstrate that you have done your homework about the school and to 'show the love' just as you would in an interview, except you get to plan your replies and put your best foot forward: If this is your first choice, say it up front. Then focus on demonstrating that you know something about vicinity, the school's culture, the academic offerings in your area(s) of interest, the extra-curriculars at the school that are of importance to you-anything really that shows why you think you fit in and how your presence would contribute to campus life. If you visited, mention something about that that impressed you.

This is actually the easiest essay if you have done your homework on the school. Just make sure it's consistent with your other essays and contributes to the 'overall' picture that you are presenting of yourself.

thanks guys

=]
i wasnt really sure about the the actual facts.
In the why do you want to come here questions.
I wasnt sure if it meant, saying that this school has a great program in this. A life moment that inspired me to that program. Going to the school or doing research about the school talking about what you like.

I mean i sure the readers are tired of hearing what there school has to offer. Or maybe they aren't?

For "Why X" essays, don't just tell them how great the school is (i.e. in terms of rankings); they already know that. Try to talk about how the offerings of the school connect with your interests, how you will take advantage of what they have to offer, and what you will bring to the school community. Make it not just about what they have to offer you, but what you have to offer them.
