College Fights Frats by Assessing Intelligence

<p>Within Outside Lower Ed, via USAYesterday:

All freshmen this year [at Cokehead College] will take a mandatory "intelligence assessment," in which they will - among other things - receive their intelligence quotient (IQ) score, which measures reasoning and test-taking ability; do an advanced math problem; and see how many chemicals they can synthesize in a few minutes. If time permits, the students may also do timed writing, in which they write the equivalent of the full works of Shakespeare while running between two cones at increasingly quick speeds.

The regimen may be different, but this sounds like the olden days required (and sometimes rigorous) actual education.</p>

<p>College requires intelligence assessment for freshmen - USAYesterday.com</p>

<p>The article notes that in South Carolina, "32 percent were in a frat and an additional 35 percent of its residents were unintelligent."</p>

<p>“Unintelligent” doesn’t sound like a very scientifically sound word :P</p>
