College Financial Aid for Military Wives

I am currently a student at Georgia Southern University. My fiance will be deploying to Afghanistan next October and we are worried about how we will afford college and all it entails! We do don't want to use his GI Bill for my school since when he returns he will be able to get out of the military and go to school. My concerns are these...
1) How much financial aid would I receive as a wife of someone in the military?
2) Can I attend college and still receive financial aid if I am married?
3) Are there any websites that gives me information concerning this matter that anyone on the website knows about?

Thanks so much!!!

First, will you be married (right now you say fiance)? Your FA will be defined by need. A LT will have much lower need than a one striper. You will be eligible for in-state rates. https://www.admissions.uga.edu/article/residency-for-in-state-tuition.html</a> You can still receive FA.

^^^^ Yes you have to be married.

1) How much financial aid would I receive as a wife of someone in the military?
As pointed out by Erin’s dad it depends on what assets you have and your income and your spouses income. In other words, I am not sure you receive any additional benefits for being a military spouse (other than possible in-state tuition) and so aid depends on your financial situation.

2) Can I attend college and still receive financial aid if I am married?
Yes you can, being married does not disqualify your from receiving aid. However your husbands income will have to be reported and will have a bearing on how much aid you get.

What exactly are you looking for? Given that you have already in a college, the best place to start would be your schools FA office. Go there and talk to them. Have your financial details ready. Without that no one can give you an answer.
