College Football Discussion 09

I don’t get ESPN 360 until September 30. Fortunately there are other ways.

I take back what I said about LSU :)

Florida had better hope to get something offensively going against Kentucky though…it’s still a trap game for them now.

So Cal got spanked by Oregon and Va. Tech beat the Holy Hell out of Miami. Things are right with the world again.

Yeah, it sure looked like a real “trap game” in the first quarter… guess that prediction was wrong too.

Weren’t there several people who kept saying that UF was overrated? Where are those guys?

mmm, I for one never said Florida was overrated…I said their schedule is weak.

Ok, so Kentucky really had no chance to beat Florida. But Florida really got a scare there when Tebow went down on that sack…completely the fault of the offensive line who didn’t account for the pass rush…

(and hoping Tebow is OK)

Aren’t you supposed to be at the Washington St. game?

Purdue has to start recruiting better. New linebackers, defensive and offensive line, quarterback, and a deep threat WR who can CATCH.

Midterms this week… I can mix studying with ESPN and discussion, right? :)

As much fun as football is, I’m not that ravenous a fan. I decided before the season started that I would skip San Jose State and Washington State, and go to Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA, Arizona. 4/6 ain’t a bad season :)

Lol at Purdue. When you’re consistently one of the worst teams in the Big Ten, you can’t exactly get top talent.

Funny how UW’s win against USC isn’t a fluke because they played close against LSU, and LSU is good because they beat UW. Maybe none of them are especially good, since that’s what last season’s records seem to indicate.

We are quite possibly the worst team in a BCS conference. Normally after a season like this at least you can look to an overhaul in the coaching staff but Fridgen’s contract basically locks him in until 2012 (with Franklin taking over) unless our athletic department can find $15 mil for the buyout. We’re fuucked.

Florida has to be relieved they have a bye next week - there would probably be zero chance Tebow could play otherwise.

Still hoping he comes out OK…

a778999: there is still UVA who can make you feel good about yourself.

I want to say Tebow has a concussion but im not sure

I can’t imagine what else it would be besides a concussion, and a fairly serious one at that.

If it is a concussion, he’s not going to be able to be anywhere near 100% by LSU. The only question would be is he recovered enough to not risk another concussion (receiving a 2nd concussion after not sufficiently recovering from the first is quite dangerous)

Their recruiting is pretty solid.

Their recruiting is okay, I wouldn’t say it’s pretty solid. They gotta start making better calls too… the damn ND we should’ve won if we didn’t call that damn timeout. Oh well, I gave up on Purdue Football its now all about Purdue Basketball! Wooo Final Four this year and a recruiting class that will be set 3 years down the road too!

Alabama looks to be a better team each week. They might be able to take Florida.

If Oregon wins the pac-10, will they play a BCS game with Boise again?

Football is the cause of my depression.

~Florida State student…

Most likely no. The winner of the Pac-10 will play in the Rose Bowl against the winner of the Big 10. Assuming they win out, Boise will probably be in the the Fiesta Bowl against the loser of the Big 12 Championship, Houston, or TCU. The only way for those two teams to play each other is a) for every ahead of those two teams to have a massive collapse and Boise and Oregon play in the National Championship or b)the winner of the Big 10 plays in the National Championship.

Don’t be too quick to anoint Oregon as the new Pac-10 front-runner. USC was everyone’s pick to win the Pac-10 until they lost. Then Cal was everyone’s pick to win and they lost. Now, many are picking Oregon who still has to play USC, ASU, and Oregon State. I think Oregon will lose again in at least one of those games.

Disclaimer: I go to Bama, so I’m very biased.

Yes we could definitely beat Florida. Our team has looked very strong on defense especially when we shut down the #2 offense in the nation when we played Arkansas. Greg McElroy has been much better than advertised and we have four running backs (Ingram, Upchurch, Richardson, Grant) that could start for most teams in the country.

Florida dodged a massive bullet by having a bye week for Tebow to recover. Florida appeared to have some difficulty against the run during the Tennessee game, and that is Alabama’s bread and butter. Someone earlier mentioned that Florida is missing Percy Harvin, and I disagreed with them. I now see that they are correct in that statement, and his departure has had an impact on Florida’s offense.
Overall, I like our chances.

I doubt Oregon will win the Pac-10 also. They lost to Boise St. and almost lost to Purdue. All I can say is that they are inconsistent.
