College Football. PLEASE HELP

Hey Everyone.

I'm doing this HUGE project about the culture aspect of college football. Part of this report requires a survey of college students at schools with successful football teams. I would greatly apppreciate it you took the time to fill out this short survey. Feel free to be as brief or thorough as you want. Fell free to say whatever you want. We are looking for your honest, open, and uncensored personal opinons.

Please fill out:
Full Name (you can make up a last name if you prefer):
School:

1.Do you think schools are heavily invested in the team’s success economically or emotionally?
2.After a big win, do you feel especially prideful? Why?
3.Does your school’s athletic department carry a “win-at-all-cost” mentality? If so, explain why?
4. What is your biggest thing you love or hate about college football?
5.How has the presence of a success football team altered the overall campus environment of your school and your college experience?
6.Does college football promote partying?
7.Are the athletes given special treatment at your school? If yes, why?
8.Do you think that major corporations are a big part of college football? If yes, do you think they are trying to exploit colleges fans and play a too big of a role?

Thank you so much for your help and cooperation!

School: SC

1.Do you think schools are heavily invested in the team’s success economically or emotionally? Both, but more economically. Just look at the number of applicants to schools (IE Northwestern) following big seasons (IE Northwestern's trip to the Rose Bowl in 1996). Football success gives a school unbelievable publicity and gives it name recognition for future students. Football success also equals BIG BUCKS in D-1A, which can go towards the overall growth in the academic community.

2.After a big win, do you feel especially prideful? Why? Yes...GO TROJANS! Hard to explain...it is not just college sports though, I am proud when any of my favorite teams win (high school, college, pro). When you have a connection to somebody that succeeds, you are proud of them. When it is your classmates that are out winning National Titles in the name of your school, that feeling is just amplified.

3.Does your school’s athletic department carry a “win-at-all-cost” mentality? If so, explain why? No, although there are some programs in 1-A college football that seem to. USC upholds student-athletes to (relatively) high levels of academics. SC has also shown no hesitation in punishing players for off-the-field incidents (however, it should be noted that athletes seem to be given the benefit of the doubt more than other students).

What is your biggest thing you love or hate about college football? Tailgating! Actually...Tradition is my favorite part of college football.

5.How has the presence of a success football team altered the overall campus environment of your school and your college experience? It makes the Fall Semester more enjoyable, and makes weekends a blast. But having a good football team does not have an impact on day-to-day college life.

6.Does college football promote partying? Yes. Pre-pregaming. Pregaming. Postgaming. Post-postgaming. Period. And why not sneak a flask or two (or three) into the game, you know, just in case.

7.Are the athletes given special treatment at your school? If yes, why? Yes. They are given special treatment...but that is a very broad term. Unfair special treatment? No. Logical special treatment (IE Tutors, etc), Yes. It should be observed, for example, that there are tutors available to all SC students. Football players are treated like students in the classroom, and celebrities everywhere else on campus.

8.Do you think that major corporations are a big part of college football? If yes, do you think they are trying to exploit colleges fans and play a too big of a role? Um...as a current student, I do not feel violated by major corporations and their marketing schemes. It is funny to see some of the corporate sponsorships these days in college football (IE Bowl Games), but it isnt obnoxious of exploitative.

Cool project!
