Forgive me if this has been covered. In terms of college grades, besides your D or S telling their grades, are there provisions made that if the student gives permission, the grades are forwarded to the parent as well? ( I understand that the students are adults but it is Freshman year at a hefty price tag therefore some info on what's going on is deserved).

There is a form the STUDENT can fill out to grant you, the parent, access to his or her grades. Unless that form is filled out by the student and given to the appropriate office on their campus, you cannot even have a hint at their grades. Even when that form is in, you cannot call or email professors or the university about grades. The university should have a portal online for parents to check student grades if they have access.

Don’t like this law? Contact your representative and tell them to change FERPA.

^ That is true.
