College in New England/Artsy Kid

We‘ve started the college search for my daughter. We know that she wants to stay in New England and would prefer a smaller campus. Her interests are in theatre and singing but not necessarily as her major…she’d be happy with rich extra curricular options in these areas. So far she loved the Providence College campus, but we have heard the population is “preppy” and she’s wondering if she wouldn’t fit in. Any thoughts from those with kids there? Or thoughts on other smaller schools in New England that we should check out? She is in a mix of honors and college prep classes with an A- average if that matters.
Thank you!

Test scores? Wesleyan, Wheaton (MA), Conn. If New York would work, Skidmore, Vassar, Sarah Lawrence, Bard.

Also Gettysburg, Dickinson, UV-M…and many, many more. Most LACs will have lots of opportunities for theatre and thinking.

But, key question: finances?

“But, key question: finances?”

This and whether you are in-state anywhere were the first two things that I wondered about.

Clark (MA)
Skidmore (Saratoga NY)
Amherst College

Maybe Bennington if you can afford the net cost.

I also recommend Connecticut College. My stepdaughter is starting her second semester and loves it. Small, pretty campus near New London, on Long Island Sound. Several (maybe 7?) a cappella groups, and they’re kind of a big deal there. Lots of artsy kids.

Hamilton

University of Vermont?
