I'm having my interview for Dartmouth soon. I fear that the fact that the interview is so far away and that it's at the interviewer's house may make me nervous. Any tips as far as etiquette when in his house? (E.g. what if he offers me something to drink or what if his wife makes some horrible snack, do i eat it?!?!) What kind of questions can I expect from him as far as the actual interview is concerned? Thanks ~

Coming from an especially similar case, I would say that you should relax. I enjoyed the interview at the house more than the ones at the offices/coffee houses anyway.

First off, don't dress up. It's just awkward to dress up at someone's house.

Second, (I have learned this from many stupid mistakes) FIND THE PLACE FIRST. I've lost my way and been late to way too many interviews. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Third, they will probably offer you a drink, maybe a snack. Just take it politely (please..thank you etc) and under the certain circumstance that the snack is horrible, EAT IT.

Fourth, ask genuine questions but don't drag them out. Don't prepare too much, keep your transcript at home. DON'T SHOW OFF. Just show them your personality and you'll be fine.

Yeah I just had a Tufts interview at the interviewer's house last night. It is very relaxed and nothing to worry about. I would come prepared with a few questions to ask the interviewer about their experience at the school. Good luck!
