College-level math in high school

Hi im a junior in high school who has finished all the available math courses at my school.

So for next year, i'm thinking about taking multi-variable calc./diff. eq. at a local university. Is it worth my time and effort to do something like this? How much would this help my admissions chances at a top school?

also, will the credits transfer over to penn?

I don’t think it hurts regarding admissions and you’ll probably be able to transfer the credits. If you have any future plans for doing a Ph.D. in any quantitative field e.g. math, physics, economics, then taking college math in high school will help a lot. Essentially, you’ll be able to finish your required courses earlier which would make it easier to take more grad courses in your major while still an undergrad and this is a huge plus in grad school admissions.

^thanks for the input/advice :)

That is what I did. I took Vector Calc and Differential Equations and got As. I am currently in Linear Algebra, but I find the teaching quality sub-par, and I’ve had to miss a bunch of classes, so I don’t think I’ll be getting an A. If you’ve exhausted all of your options in high school, see if they will pay for the colleges classes. I’m pretty sure they have to. Mine did, anyway.

^Ya, my high school pays for your classes that you take at the nearest college. That made it a no brainer
