Hi im a junior in high school who has finished all the available math courses at my school.

So for next year, i'm thinking about taking multi-variable calc./diff. eq. at a local university. Is it worth my time and effort to do something like this? How much would this help my admissions chances at a top school?

well there’s no way of knowing how much it’ll help you, but it won’t hurt right?

I see no drawbacks in taking the course, unless you don’t like math (but seeing as how you’re already that high, I kind of doubt it)

I did the same thing and got in, though others in my class didn’t. In other words… it probably doesn’t mean that much but it can’t hurt and why not?

well the only concern i would have is that it might take too much out of my time - 4-5 hrs. in class + hw + studying (especially since i’ll be working on college apps at the same time).

based on your experience, how much time outside of class did you have to spend on the course?

I think taking that initiative would look better on a college app than whatever couple of percentage points in all your other classes.

It would definitely help - just like how taking AP courses help.
