Rising Senior
GPA: 4.1 W
SAT: 2200 superscore
SAT2: math 2 (750) korean (800) taking bio & lit in oct.
average extra curricular
my school does not have class rank

Reach: Cornell (ED, CALS), Tufts
Match/Low reach: JHU, UVA, Georgetown, Amherst College
Match: W&M (legacy), Boston College
Safety: vtech

I don't like hot areas, so i am avoiding colleges in the south
I am looking for some safety schools and taking suggestions for other reach schools
I also need financial support, thank you!

Look at the pinned threads in the Financial Aid forum for some safeties.

Amherst is very selective. I would categorize it as a reach. That’s probably also the case with Georgetown.

I would also be careful with viewing UVa as a match if your EC’s are just “average.”

It can be a particular issue for UVA if you are from the NOVA area.

“I also need financial support.” Why are you applying to Cornell ED then?

That is why I am asking for suggestions!! I would really like to put my academics first before financial issues but maybe I was being too positive. I am from a low income family (<60,000) so for schools such that meet 100% need I am taking my chances, which are most above.

If georgetown amherst and uva are reaches, what should I consider for match schools?

Calm down. The majority of posters on these fora will recommend NOT using ED if you need FA because you can’t compare FA offers from other schools. What’s your UW GPA?

You can put the academics ahead of the financial, but you might be surprised when you cannot afford to go to these schools. Run the net price calculators and see what they suggest your Expected Family Contribution will be. Talk to your parents and get a number that they say they can contribute to your education each year. You’re likely to be a candidate for need-based aid, but your numbers aren’t good enough for merit at these schools.

Please tell us your state of residence and your prospective major, in addition to anything anyone else has asked for.

To state the obvious, Virginia and Virginia Tech and William & Mary are in the South, and thus the local climate will be warm and even hot on occasion. But if you’re in-state you should certainly apply to each.
