All throughout my sophomore year of highschool I recieved mail from numerous colleges. They all came with a non-profit organization stamp, said pretty much the same thing, and usually supplied me with a username and password for their website to learn more about the school. I've gotten a few letters from some pretty good schools and I am wondering if these letters are to be taken seriously. Does everyone get these sort of letters? And if I get one from Brown or MIT does this mean that there's a chance of getting into those schools?

i kinda wish that was true. but no. usually, if u get that sort of mail, it means that ur smart enough to be noticed by the school. it most likely means that u'll go somewhere good. but it doesn't give u any special consideration for the specific college.

Many colleges send out these letters and emails. If you sign in, it is a quick and easy way for them to track interest. These are "contact us if you are interested" letters, not "we intend to accept you" letters.

simply put no. I've gotten billions as well as my friends and ccers and they didn't all result in acceptances.
