College of Agriculture and Life Sciences vs. College of Arts and Sciences

<p>I really want to major in Biochemistry (which Cornell doesn't have as a major but they have it listed under Biological Sciences) and I really want to double major in Psychology with a minor in Nutritional Sciences. Biological sciences are listed under both the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the College of Arts and Sciences. What's the difference in the Biology major between the two colleges?
In addition to that only the College of Arts and Sciences has Psychology as a major, if biological science is better at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences are you able to major in things from two of the different Colleges?
Lastly Nutritional Sciences is listed as a minor for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, if I ended up in the College of Arts and Sciences would I still be able to take that as a minor?</p>

<p>I'm just really hoping that if I decide to apply to Cornell- and, by some miracle, get in- that I won't have to drop anything. </p>

<p>Thanks (:</p>

<p>CAS has a more liberal arts bent with their distribution requirements.</p>

The biology major will be the same in both colleges. What will be different are the classes you have to take outside your major to satisfy distribution requirements.

CALS students need a certain number of credits in each of the following disciplines: physical and life sciences, introductory life sciences/biological sciences, chemistry/physics, quantitative literacy (math and statistics), social sciences/humanities, and written/oral expression. More information on CALS graduation requirements can be found here: http://courses.cornell.edu/content.php?catoid=22&navoid=5697

Arts and Sciences students need to take classes in the following: foreign language, cultural analysis, historical analysis, knowledge/cognition/moral reasoning, literature and the arts, social and behavioral analysis, mathematics and quantitative reasoning, and physical and biological sciences. They also have to fulfill two breadth requirements in the areas of geography and history. More information can be found here: http://courses.cornell.edu/content.php?catoid=22&navoid=5708

However, if you also want to major in psychology, you have to be in Arts and Sciences. You can’t double major across colleges. You can minor in most subjects across colleges, though, so you would most likely be able to minor in psych if you were in CALS or minor in nutritional sciences if you were in CAS.
