ok i’m one of the many applicants who cannot decide between wharton and CAS. At the moment i’m leaning towards doing premed but there’s a part of me that wants to do business. in fact, i’ve heard that some wharton undergrads go to med school. i was thinking that in the long run, being a whartonite may be more beneficial since some employers may regard the wharton school more highly. also, i’ve heard that a lot of medical schools value students who have majors other than science. however, if i do ultimately take the med route then it may be a waste of time for me to go to wharton. the obvious problem is that the chances for getting into wharton are lower than that for CAS. so, should i apply to CAS and try transferring to wharton after one year even if the chances for transferring are harder or should i take my chances and apply to wharton?

btw im a korean female applying early decision

If you're in Wharton and decide not to go the medical route, then atleast you'll have a degree that's marketable to employers.

If you're in CAS and major in philosophy and ancient basketweaving, then you may have a hard time finding employment if you decide not to take the med school route. That's why if you decide on the College, make sure you major in a field that will land you a job that is an interest of yours.

Since you're undecided, I would apply to CAS. You can major in Economics and still enjoy the opportunities of Whartonites in the business world. Plus, you can take your pre-med classes, and if you decide not to go to medical school, then atleast you have a good degree to fall back on.

I have classmates who are now in med school. And there are always Whartonites who are also premed, but there aren't many of them. You can do it within the curriculum, it's just hard core.

thanks guys! btw if u were wondering i decided to apply to the CAS.
