i read that college of charleston has somewhere between 60 and 70% girls!!
anyone who goes there/knows about it: whats the deal? does this make for an annoying social life (esp. for girls)??

....anyone?

last try....

annnnyone?

ok i lied, im trying again to bump this thing up... think about colleges IN GENERAL with very high percentages of girls!!

looking for info on C of C & can't find much, but thought maybe we could BUMP this up!?

yeah jeez whats the deal... no one cares unless we're talking about ivy leagues?

i'm not applying to CofC, but it is a cute school, and good luck to you!:)
I have had the same experiences on this board...it seems like if you arent talking about HPYS or some other LAC like it, then no one will ever respond, which is a shame.
The same thing happened to me on the DePauw board, so when I read this I thought I would just stop in and sympathize!

Hi, just saw your post. My daughter is a freshman at CofC, yes, it's definitely more girls than boys, probably about 70% girls but don't remember exactly. However, I don't think it's a problem with her social life, she's having fun and has met a good number of guys. Also, the Citadel cadets are ALWAYS around, it's easy to tell who they are because of the uniforms, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. In addition, there is a Navy base in Charleston, my daughter happens to have a high school friend who is stationed there and has met some guys that way too. MUSC is down the street from CofC too. She really likes the school, we are from PA and it was her first choice because of the city, and she just felt like she 'belonged' there.

Let me know if I can answer any other questions for you.

c of c is known for its girl to guy ratio! I'm a junior at c of c and its 3:1 , so yeah its like 75% girls and 25 % guys . You also have to remeber the citadel is right here though, and then the navy base and airforce is in town as well so it makes the girl to guy ratio a little more equal

Hey there girls!

I’ve been un undergrad here at Charleston for a year now and I can confirm that 90% of what you hear about Charleston isn’t true. I almost didn’t come here because of all the scaremongering of people who tell you that if you’re a girl you can’t get a boyfriend at Charl, but now I’m really glad I decided to come. There’s a really great atmosphere and everyone’s really friendly.

Of course, if all you care about is getting a guy, it can be pretty tough on campus, as their are like three times as many girls as guys and the competition can get pretty fierce. I remember when I first started and I went to a party where I got really intimidated by the number of hot girls trying to grab the few guys that were there. But hey, like you say, the guys from the Citadel are really cool and if you go down to the town, you can usually find some guys to hang out with.

Hope I’ve helped you out!

The actual percentages from the C of C institutional research Office for full-time undergraduates is 63% female, 37% male. Men actually outnumber women among part-time undergrads, but not by much.
