M/F Ratio?

My daughter is very interested in this school but I just saw this statistic on the school's website:

Female students: 66.2 percent
Male students: 33.8 percent

I know that there are more females than males at most schools these days, but I've never seen a ratio like this before. Are there any female students of the school here who can comment on how that effects social life?

I’m not sure which thread it was on - but this point has been brought up before - and someone mentioned an all boys school that was close by - citadel maybe - and that that helped out with the imbalance.

I did see that rockvillemom and I think it was mentioned in Fiske too. Then again, The Citadel is a military academy and C of C is reputed to be (for the area) a liberal oasis. So I don’t know how much that holds. I’d be interested to hear from students there (actually at either school).

I’m a parent of a current student…It is the Citadel and yes, the uniformed guys are all over campus. The first couple of weeks in the fall, they are all over the sidewalk in front of Berry (the all female) dorm. My d is upper class now and does have guy friends from both CofC and the Citadel and they do hang out together all on good terms.

The girl to guy ratio is about normal for most liberal arts colleges and I don’t think its that much of a problem. Charleston’s still a great college, although obviously the social scene is a lot tougher for girls than at some other colleges. At the end of the day, the most important thing when choosing a college is the academic reputation, which at Charleston is pretty good. Anyway, from a parent’s point of view, girls get a lot less distracted from their studies when there aren’t that many guys around.
