Hi
I’ve been browsing a bit and I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the college of communications at BU?
Specific things I want to know:
-whether or not it has a good reputation in the northeast/ east coast area
-internship/job opportunities (for underclassmen as well as upperclassmen)
-class size?
-what are the classes like (ex. lectures, or lots of group/individual projects)?
-how’s the advising at the College of Communications?

lastly,
im looking into a Communications, Journalism (print), or Journalism (broadcast) degree. However, I’m all ears if anyone knows anything about other programs in the College of Com. as well!

I suggest you look at the COM part of the BU website.

COM is a very good school. Lots of internships, etc. but if you're interested you should look more into it and even talk to them. Many of your questions are discussed in the materials on the site. The programs are not "academic" only but are practical training combined with academics.

im actually a current COM freshman and although I didn't know this going into the school, BU's college of communication is currently ranked number 1 in the nation. it has an outstanding reputation all over the country and therefore has many many many internship opportunities. as a freshman, your first class with com is an intro class where they bring in professionals from all different aspects of the business to come and talk to you; that class is all COM freshman at once so thats like 300 some kids and then you are broken into discussions of about 18 kids. Second semester you take a writing class and those classes have 20 some people in them.. COM does a good job at focusing on the individual and the advisors are really nice/helpful. If you have any questions, PM me.

Some people hate COM101 ... but the BU method is that you work on your distribution reqs early. So you take your BU mandatory writing classes, which are really literature / English class, and whatever fills your particular interest and need, given your AP and other credits.
