I already sent my app for RD but didn’t check the box for CGS since I wasn’t sure what it was. Now I am considering emailing BU to ask them to change it on my app. Would they do that for me?

But first I have a few questions about it. If I check the box, will they FIRST consider me for my 1st choice major THEN for CGS?
Is CGS basically just for kids that are on the fence for admission at BU?
Once a students time at CGS is up, must they apply to get into their major or are they automatically placed after their time in CGS?

I never was in CGS, so I’m not an expert. I wouldn’t worry about it though. I think that you’d be considered for CGS if you aren’t accepted into CAS regardless of whether you checked the box or not.

If you are in CGS, you spend the first two years in that school. You can work on some requirements for whatever school you are looking to go into for your junior and senior year. You’ll be the one who picks what school/major you want. In every school, there are advisors who help you decide how to plan your courses most effectively too.

its better that you check off the box for CGS, because if you do not qualify for your first choice school you aren’t completely tossed from the admissions process

It just means that If your not considered a good candidate for the school you originally applied then they will consider you for CGS admissions if they still think your good enough for the school, it’s like a backup plan for if you don’t get into your designated college
