College of HumanEc/Agricultural & Life Sciences/Arts & Sciences

Hi!
I am planning to apply to one of the 3 schools in Cornell mentioned above:
Human Ecology
Agriculture/Life Sciences
Arts and Sciences

They all have majors that I would love to study in. My question to the very wise CC'ers would be if you all have any ESTIMATE of the order of acceptance rates for each of these individual schools at Cornell. I know they do not release this information to the public, per se, but I'm sure people have formulated some opinions about the individual admit rates. It would be very helpful for me to know!

Thanks! :)

Applying to one you have the best shot at getting into? Don’t bother filling out the app then.

Not at all… balancing this information with the majors from each school.

Well what are you interested in? A&S is typically known to be more selective than the others, but has the most students in the university. Moreover, you can apply undecided to A&S. With the other two colleges you can’t (major choice required), and HumEc is a fairly small college in population.

Thank you for the information Islander4 :). I am mostly interested in Biochem/Biology/Nutritional Sciences

I would suggest reading the mission statements for each college and spending time on their websites. They may all seem to offer the same major/s but the way they approach the subject matter can be different. Plus, demonstrating a deep knowledge of the school’s specific strengths and unique qualities will make your application much more competitive.

Also, look at each college’s distribution requirements. Depending on which college you’re in, you’ll have to take courses outside of your major, and these could range from a lower-level math course to a full-blown language course.

Ok… thank you for all of the info guys! Cheers
