College perspective on ACT

OK. So I just took the Sunday test today and everything was going totally well until science. OMG. Missed at least 7-8. Hopefully, since it was so hard, the curve will be lenient. Anyhoo, on a previous administration I got a 33. I think my composite on this one will be higher but the science will be lower.

Last time:
C: 32
E: 35
M: 29
R: 32
S: 33

W/E: 12/35

This time (projected):
C: 31-34
E: 34-36
M:33-36
R: 34-36
S: 28 or less

W/E: 12/34-36

Two questions:
A) Should I send both to colleges (I really don't want to take it a fourth time even though ACT gave me a free one b/c my Michigan administered testing conditions were abhorrent; it would be kind of nice to finally get a solid 34+ tho) to show that my science was good on one but not the other?

B) Do colleges care as much about the science score as they do the other scores (English is like Writing on SAT, Reading like CR, and Math like Math, but no science)?

Thanks to all who respond!

Colleges that accept the ACT in place of the SAT and SAT IIs care about the science test. Colleges like to see consistent results. So, I don't know what good sending both would do you.

I'm in the same boat too. I'm pretty sure I got 33 or 34s in E/M/R, but the science section was just cruel compared to any of the 4 past real science sections. My previous ACT (January) I got 32/31/32/34, so a superscore with 33/34/33/x from yesterday would be really nice. I was going great, and then this science hit me like a truck.

It's like having a 4.0 all through HS, then failing all of your senior because of a 35 minute test :(

well then study and prepare for it like you would for any of your other high school tests.....

unfortunately, ACT science is not like some high school test you can study for. you have no idea what will be tested!v there's only so much you can do to prepare for this test! the only time i got a good score (a 33) i had done a few sessions with a tutor. mayube it helped that the test was not as hard as this one, either.

no, by studying and preparing for it i did not mean go out and try to cover all the possible topics they could throw at you but rather to practice, practice, and practice with graph/charts and become pretty adept at that.

Tryin2becool, why did you retake the ACT when your composite score was 33, to try for a 34+? Anything 32 or over is in the top 1% of ACT takers, right?

Are there some programs or colleges that look down on ACT scores under 34? What are they? (I would have thought a 33 was good enough for just about anything except for getting your name in the paper because you were one of the few kids in the country who got a 36.)

Thanks.

oh, no. it's just that im really hard on myself. now im ed cuz i thought this would be the last time, especially since i pwned the englsh, math and rdg. then came sonofa* science. i was offered a free test in october so if i dont like my score i guess ill take it... a friggin 4th time!!!!
