College Planner

I was wondering if Mount Holyoke College gives out planner or do we have to buy one ourselves? If so, how much is the planner if I were to buy it in MHC? Is the planner from MHC worth it? Or should I buy a planner outside of the college?

Does MHC offer a free planner?

Mount Holyoke will give you a free USB drive and a bunch of other stuff, but a planner is not included. You will need to buy one yourself and if you buy it from the campus store, it will be anywhere from $5 to $25. I’d just buy one at home if I were you.

Thanks so much…I’ll just buy one from home!

Polyglotism, do you mind telling me, since you mentioned it and I am very curious, besides free USB drive, (which I don’t really need, because don’t laptops come with USB drive anyways?) what are the bunch of other stuff that is given to us? I don’t want to buy it and then find out MHC would give us that anyways. Thanks!

anonymous:

A USB drive is also called a thumb drive, flash drive, stick drive, etc = portable temporary storage. Most people have one (~$10). I don’t know of any laptop that comes with one free of charge.

Are you confusing USB drive with the built in hard drive? (hope I don’t sound condescending–not my intention!)

BTW, on your other question, I think I read that MHC will supply you with an ethernet cable, and the McAfee anti virus software that they want you to use.

The thing on your computer is a USB port. The thing Mount Holyoke gives you is a drive. It’s a lot of random stuff, like post-its and 2 drops of laundry detergent. If you are planning on bringing something, bring it because Mount Holyoke will most likely not provide it to you.

Agree with polygotism, MHC doesn’t give you much for free. You will be provided with a labeled flash drive (USB drive, which can plug into any laptop made within the last 5 years), an Ethernet cable (some dorms do not have good wireless signal, and every room is equipped with enough Ethernet ports for each student in the room), and tons and tons of papers for planning and such. You will also have to do a few registration procedures, including downloading MHC Anti-Virus software (word to the wise: get all anti-virus software TOTALLY off of your laptop before trying to install the MHC one!), to be able to access the wireless network.

Hope I helped! Feel free to PM me with any more questions!
