When I went to see the requirements you need for Johns Hopkins, i have everything except for the four years of Spanish, but it says they "recommend" it. Would it be fine if I only take three years of Spanish?

You won’t be rejected for having three years of Spanish rather than four, but they recommend that you take four years and everyone needs all the help they an get when it comes to selective college admissions.

It’s just another factor in the admissions, I’d say. I mean, anywhere you go, an extra year of a foreign language would look attractive.

Agree with halcyonheather. Selective colleges generally want to to see a 4 year continuation of the same language. Every little bit counts.

I don’t think it would matter for 95% of the colleges you could apply to. If you really want to go to a highly selective uni like JHU, you should do everything you can to satisfy their “recommendations”
