I skipped Spanish 1 my first year of high school and finished Spanish 4 last year as a junior. I tried to take AP Spanish this year but it was only offered for one class period that coincided with another class I needed to take (adv. chem... my regular chem teacher sucked so I wanted to get some chem background in before college!). However, I noticed JHU required 4 years of a language. JHU is my number 1 and I'm applying ED... will this ruin my chances?

To my knowledge, JHU doesn’t require you to take language courses at all… to what program exactly are you planning on applying?

Yes, when my son registered for intermediate spanish, his counselor told him there was no language requirement in JHU

Really? On the common app’s ‘information/admissions’ section, it listed languages as a 4-year requirement in high school. I’ll look further into this though, thank you!
