So i will be applying to college next year and I really wanted to have my principal write a letter of recommendation. The only problem is he is retiring this year, can I still have him write one even though he won't be at my school next year? And will colleges look at it the same even though he isn't my principal when i'm a senior?

Do you mean as a supplemental letter in addition to the letter from your counselor and the letter(s) from your teacher(s)?

Well some schools ask for like 2 teachers or administrator. I recall reading that somewhere.

Since he knew you in your junior year (which is really what they’re looking for), it won’t be a problem.

We had some teachers leave our school, and they still did recommendations for junior year students. I don’t see why administrators would be any different.

okay thank you! Because i live in a small rural school and everything is going down hill quickly. We are losing tons of extracurriculars and advanced level courses so i’m losing a lot of classes for my senior year. I’m seriously concerned because i planned on applying to selective colleges and now i was afraid i’d be losing my recommendation too. Thanks for the minor relief!
