Hello! Im a rising senior who is super worried about college stuffs.
So, since I heard that it is better to ask for college applications as early as possible, Im trying to ask for them during summer break via email. (I shouldve asked them it the end of my junior yr, but I forgot).
I do have some colleges in my mind, but I am not sure about them and do not know any due dates.
I just want to know whether teachers (who Im going to ask for) are willing to write applications for me.
Is it too rude just to ask for the yes or no? Should I write exact due dates and colleges that I am going to apply and write formal request (attached with my some anecdotes and resume)?
Please help me! thank you so much :)

It would seem better to just ask if they’d be willing to write a positiive recommendation for you. It’s less thrown at them at once.

Ask if they are willing to do one, but not until a few weeks before school starts. The profile allows you to start your applications on August 1st (I believe) that is a good time to start asking teachers if they would be willing to do a letter for you. Then put together your stuff and get it to the teacher once school starts.

thank you all! but then what should i write? i’m not good at writing a formal letter at all Would this be fine? ↓
Hello Mrs. ____ this is ____ _____. i hope you are having a great summer.
I feel like you had taught me a lot since i came to this school, and I would be honored if you would write me a college recommendation. Would you willing to write one for me please?
is it too short? and should i write a reason why i’m not mentioniong schools due dates? or i don’t have to do that i guess?

You’re only asking just now? I’m a little surprised, but just because how we did it at our school:
In March, we had to request 2 teachers through Naviance to write recommendations. I thought it was horribly impersonal, so I asked my teachers politely beforehand. Our teachers here write them during the summer.

I think the message you have planned is fine, since you have to go through e-mail. Face-to-face is always preferable.
