The recent college ACT/SAT/athlete scandal is awful in so many ways. Do any other parents wonder how this might impact our student athletes in future recruitment and applications? Surely, there will be an impact and more scrutiny on student athletes. What are your thoughts?
If you are a legitimate athlete, it seems likely that you might encounter a bit more oversight. The colleges apparently could have prevented a lot of the problems on their turf (as opposed to the misdeeds that occurred regarding cheating on the SAT process) with a simple verification that the names the coaches submitted to admissions for preferential treatment (a) actually excelled in that sport and (b) participated in that sport once they matriculated.
