College Scholars?

My son received great news last evening - he was selected as a winner of one of the College Scholar merit scholarships! Plus, I figure we're safe in assuming that he's been accepted to Wooster. :)

Anyone else on CC hear about their College Scholar applications?

Do you know how many scholarships are awarded?

My daughter is a College Scholar (freshman) at Wooster. I think I was told that about 50-55 kids were offered some level of College Scholar award. I could be recalling this incorrectly, but I believe it was somewhere in that ballpark. Not all of them enroll.

Congratulations on your award.

when is the deadline for all scholarship announcements?
nm, i found my answer on my acceptance letter.
the deadline for all scholarship announcements is Feb. 5th

Are you referring to just the scholar awards -- There are several other scholarships available provided you apply by 2/15. Here's the website for additional info.

Have the letters been sent?

which letters are you talking about?

I mean has anybody heard about the College Scholars yet?

bjfcool,

My son received a phone call (last Tuesday evening, I think) notifying him that he had been chosen to receive a College Scholar award. He received an invitation to the College Scholar weekend a couple of days later. I'm not sure if he'll receive an official award letter; we assumed the inviation served as confirmation of the call.

Hope that helps!

Last year, my daughter was informed of her College Scholar award by mail. It came some time after the letter confirming her acceptance. ... Congratulations, Radionicist! If your son goes to Wooster, I'm sure he'll love it!

Yeah, I didn't win the Arthur Holly Compton Scholarship... :(

Sorry, nicesocks.

Does Wooster actually let finalists know if they didn't get a scholarship, or does the empty mailbox speak for itself? My dd was a finalist for the College Scholar award, but by now I am assuming that she did not get it. :-(

Cockatiel--I recommend that you contact your daughter's admission's officer at Wooster. (I looked it up--Catherine Finks has Virginia.) I'm betting that your daughter did get a College Scholar award and they just haven't sent you the info yet. Good luck!!

Cockatiel how do you know if you are a finalist?

Cockatiel--My daughter never received a finalist letter last year. Just, out of the blue, we got the letter confirming her status as a "College Scholar." It's possible Wooster changed the way they do things this year.

Dd received a letter about four weeks ago saying that she was a finalist. Then about a week ago dh and I received a letter congratulating her on her acceptance to Wooster etc., but not a word about College Scholar. A mystery.

I will mention calling up Ms. Fink to my dd. Dd is more patient than I am though....

Cockatiel--By finalist, maybe they meant that she actually was awarded the College Scholarship. Definitely call Ms. Fink. If your daughter is too relaxed and layed-back to do it (as my daughters both are!), I don't think you should feel bad about inquiring on your own. Don't be patient. You have a right to know, and Wooster is wonderful about these things.

Today was the day -- dd received a generous Compton Scholarship! :-) Huzzah!
