Major- ok I know this is kinda wacko but I want to double major in science and theatre because I love both and would like to learn the other aspects of theatre besides performance (design, management, directing, choreography, etc.) Looking especially at a Biochemistry / Theatre double major (at least, that’s the dream)

Location- preferably Midwest but I’m keeping an open mind

From Minnesota, upper middle class white family so looking for more merit than need-based scholarships

I have decided already that I want to apply to Northwestern, although I understand my SAT subject scores are a little sad for Northwestern level–

Otherwise I’m open to suggestions please help me thank you!

Majoring in both theatre and, say, biochemistry would not seem unusual at many colleges.

If you would be willing to travel and could make the finances work, Vassar would be an example of a potentially good fit for you.

Denison could meet a number of your preferences – good merit awards plus strong music and theater, with the new Eisner performing arts building under construction and opening, I believe, in 2018-19. The village of Granville is less than 30 minutes from Columbus and there is a lot of cross-connection between artists in Columbus and Denison, with visiting faculty who are in the arts etc.

Kenyon would offer strong programs in those areas, as well as the possibility of merit scholarship recognition.

Lawrence hasn’t been mentioned yet. It has both theatre and science, but not much in dance. Do you want to continue your ballet?

I would love to keep dancing (even if it’s at a studio in the surrounding area) but will probably not need a major in it/a huge presence at the school itself. But yeah, I would prefer to go somewhere where I could still take classes, whether on campus or not.

Washington university of St Louis has a ballet-focused dance department and strong in science. You would have to investigate theatre there because I am honestly not sure.
