College Selection, help!

I know it's not the time for such a post since RD admission of the schools i apply to is still in motion, but I have a situation here.

I am a Chinese student, and WUSTL seems to be fond of my high school because my school counselor e-mails to me that I can make a commitment toward WUSTL if it's my No.1 choice, an ED agreement of sorts. It's indeed one of the top choices but I am not sure about giving up the other.(specifically Brown, Northwestern, Cornell, Uchicago, and Upenn) I am inclined to sign it at the moment, but still reserved on some factors(weather, location). BTW,I would probably double-major in Political science and Physics.

Any suggestions appreciated! Many thanks in advance!

I’ve never heard of something like this, but that doesn’t say anything. Can you ask your counselor more about this? Is this something they’ve done before at your school? Do they guarantee enough money for you to be able to attend? Do you have safety schools? The schools you’ve listed all have more qualified applicants than they have slots.

I’d never go for ANY ED unless you love the school and can afford it. You’ve already said you may love some of your other schools more.

Good luck.

Anyone else?

What you’re getting is not special treatment. WUSTL offers early decision for all applicants, if they agree to the ED agreement ([Instructions](http://admissions.wustl.edu/apply/freshmen/Pages/instructions.aspx)).

Like the other poster said, don’t go with ED unless you are absolutely, positively, sure that the school is your top choice. If you have any doubts, don’t go with ED.

Are you saying that your applied RD (not ED) and WashU has communicated to your GC that if you withdraw other apps, they’ll accept you?

You need to see that offer in writing, before deciding. Don’t just take the GC’s word.
