What should you look for in a college, especially if you want to become a pediatrician?

You'll need to look for a school that offers PreMed courses (almost all do), along with a major that you'll enjoy and excel at. PreMed should not be your major, and while a major like Biology might be appropriate for Med school, it's not necessary that you choose a science.

Ask about how graduates fare with their med school applications. Note that with med school admissions there may be a tradeoff - a high prestige undergrad school may look good on your app, but you might find it tougher to maintain a high GPA compared to a school with a more normal peer group. GPA is a key factor in admissions.

Overall, though, focus on finding a school that you really like and will thrive at intellectually. Any good undergrad school can prepare you for med school, but some will be a better fit with your needs and interests than others.

thank you i really appeciate the advice

You might want to consider whether the school has an adjacent/affiliated hospital and/or med school for volunteering and advising, respectively.

Some pre-med programs boast high placement rates but it is because they weed out the weak pre-meds before application time.

Research opportunities might be helpful, too

thanks for the help
