Come on guys. Can anyone answer the above question?

Hello.

Your list includes a very small college (Macalester) with a huge state university (Michigan). Do both of these match your academic and social needs well? I can’t see how both fall on the same list. Doesn’t make sense.

I think you need to spend more time thinking about what sort of learning environment and social environment suits you best.

Your list contains apples and oranges (and lettuce and parsnips). Once you have a better, more focused list, you’ll be able to craft an application that will work for your best fit colleges.

And remember this: your chances of admission go UP if you can demonstrate that the particular college is a very tight fit for you. It’s not just about the numbers. It’s about fit.

UMich was actually the college that I least considered. I’m mainly looking for colleges that offer an intimate learning environment with preferably small classes. I realize that most LACs offer this type of learning, but at the same time I don’t want to go to a college that is isolated from civilization, thus I chose the LACs that are close to or in cities. I’ve also chosen to include some small-size national universities with a maximum undergrad enrollment of around 15000 students. I realize that UMich does not satisfy this requirement but as I said it was the college that I least considered and chose to include mainly because of it’s location (Ann Arbor). Ultimately I want to go to a college that offers the student an individualized education in an intimate environment, with the amenities of a large town or city nearby, but at the same time offering some sort of community life with a number of on-campus events and clubs for the student to choose from.
