Just curious. If you plan on playing a sport in college but not as a freshman. Let's say one wants to start playing football in college as a sophomore, is it the same as high school where you can try out before the season starts or is it compulsory to start out by getting recruited as a freshman?

bump.............
Can somebody plz reply?

You can try out, but where are you going? Penn?

Walking on will be much easier at Penn than say, Ohio State or USC.

i wanted to know the same thing...i play football but was sittin out this year and wanted to know if i can walk on as a sophmore

You can always walk on to the team, if they have spots

Would that be Penn State of UPenn? Penn State has a great football team whereas UPenn is not as good.

yeah, joe paw might look at you and say "I could run faster"

Talk to the coach!

If you don't want to compete/play this year, try and get yourself a redshirt. That'll give you a year to train and not lose eligibility and you'll have a spot on the team.
