College suggestions & evaluations?

Hello, everyone,

I am a high school senior who is looking for colleges to apply to. For a long time, I have had my eyes set on applying to conservatories as a violin major. I have completed applications to Eastman, Oberlin, CIM and Rice. However, recently I realized that I shouldn't limit myself to just conservatories when I have other interests in mind. As a result I have been searching for colleges to apply to. After doing researches, I am currently interested in Rice University (which I had applied to), Northwestern University, Pomona College, Oberlin college.

My majors of interests are: Computer science/engineering, mathematics, Asian studies, Economics.

Double degree is something I really want to do, but if violin doesn't work out, I really want to go to a academic school that will allow me to explore different academic interests.

I need help to set some realistic goals on what colleges I will be applying to. I would like to hear some college suggestions that might fit my interests and my profile.

I wish I had seen this earlier - I hope that you did apply to Pomona - my son’s gf there is a violinist and also considered attending conservatories. She opted for Pomona because she felt like she would be a more well-rounded person. She plays in the orchestra and takes lessons but is majoring in environmental studies. If you have any questions after your acceptances - I can talk about both Pomona (my son attend there) and Rice (which I attended). I wish you well and hope you have many choices!
