What I am looking for
I am looking for a small east coast LAC with a good reputation.
My family does not make a lot of money so I need somewhere with good financial aid.
I would not like a large city, but I would like a college town or small city that is easily walkable or has good public transport.
I would like somewhere with very strong humanities.
I am very quirky and geeky and I would like for there to be a lot of people like that too!
I would also like somewhere with strong internship and career help for liberal arts majors.

I'm sorry if this a little bare bones, I just want to know what colleges would be good for me and where I stand in the college race in general!
Thank you

I really think you should retake SATs to increase math score. I think Swarthmore would be a great reach. You should also look at Colgate, Vassar, and Middlebury. Good Luck!

The OP would have to gain at least 200 points on the math score to even be considered at Swarthmore, I think. Wesleyan might a reach to look at. Matches - Dickinson (high match?). Gettysburg? Getting your math score up is pretty key to improving your chances.

Denison U is score optional and they have good FA. Beautiful location, too.

Carleton. It isn’t on the east coast, but it perfectly fits all your other requirements. The college town is a perfect size, but it’s close to major cities, and there are great career and alumni networks. It is a top ten LAC and is ranked number two in both student happiness ([2. Carleton College | TheDailyBeast: Happiest Colleges of 2012 | Comcast.net](<a href=“Discovery Hub - News & Technology”>http://xfinity.comcast.net/slideshow/news-happiestcolleges2012/10/)) and undergraduate teaching ([Best Undergraduate Teaching | Rankings | Top National Liberal Arts Colleges | US News](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-liberal-arts-colleges/undergraduate-teaching)). You could also consider St. Olaf, which is in the same town as Carleton, and while slightly less selective, has a wonderful program called The Great Conversation ([St. Olaf College | About St. Olaf](http://www.stolaf.edu/depts/great-conversation/about/)) that covers tons of literature and historical texts in the western canon, which may interest you as a history major. They have fantastic merit and need based aid, and their cost of attendance is significantly lower than many other colleges. Kenyon is also fantastic, and has extremely strong humanities. Their curriculum focuses on writing in every subject, and provide a very strong liberal arts background. These schools all have strong support for liberal arts students, because, well, everyone is a liberal arts student. I urge you to widen your search to include the Midwest and west, as there are many wonderful colleges with slightly different flavors from the east coast.

I would recommend retaking your SATs. However, I would also suggest you consider a number of test optional schools that meet your criteria, including Franklin & Marshall, Hobart & William Smith, Clark University and Bowdoin as a high reach. Also, I believe that University of Rochester would accept two AP scores in lieu of the SATs (but you should check that) and I would recommend the school highly.

Haverford, Kenyon?
