College suggestions for undergrad business???

Hello!

So I’m thinking of applying to FSU to study finance. I’m an international student and they offer me the best tuition deal (20k instead of 35k since they have a location in my country. So, basically, I’m looking for more schools in the 20k-30k bracket). I’m interested on working in S&T or IB and so far the schools I’ve been thinking about applying to are UPenn, ND, UWO(Canada, Ivey School of Business) and FSU.

My goal is to work in wall street as a trader or investment banking. Yeah, kind of a long stretch to think of that now, but I thought I’d mention it since there’s target schools and such that financial companies recruit at.

However, the tuition prices are a bit out of my budget and I’d only be able to afford some of these with scholarships and loans, which I’m not against but I’d prefer to not be drowned in 200k in college debt. But I’m open to also hearing about schools that are good(target?) even if they’re out of my budget because I’d like to have more options (I’m open to sacrificing some things, asking for loans, etc if the school is good and I feel like i’ll fit in)The reason why I want to go overseas (US&Canada) to study is because in my country there’s not a lot of opportunities in this area and along with this, the universities do not develop their business schools as much as they do their other schools.

My biggest worry is not really the debt part, it’s mostly the if I’ll get a job after college part so I can pay back the debt.

Basically, I’m looking for school suggestions that will give me a good education, get me internships and job opportunities in the area I’d like to work in and also a school that has a great environment (student body wise, etc) cause I’d not only like to have a great academic experienc, but also an overall college experience.

I have a 4.4 GPA (Out of 5.0, taking 11 classes in HS, in a prestigious private school. The school system in my country is quite complex, basically we start studying for the college career we’d like to study in the future, in High School. So most of my classes are business focused (Financial Math, Accounting, Econ, Marketing, Advertising, Business Adm, the rest of the classes are basic core ones such as grammar, literature, history, etc. I’ve been taking all of these classes since freshman year(current junior) and I’m not sure if this type of system will get me an advantage during admissions)

Also, I was wondering if being a female, east asian, born and raised in a latin american country, would help me with acceptance/scholarships and maybe internships?

I also thought about applying to NC and Rutgers(Have family living close to the newark campus so I can save on the dorm room cost and just commute). I also thought about Cornell or Columbia.

Sorry for blabbering so much!

So basically my main questions are:
1- Are there any schools in the budget I have that are target schools or have a presence in Wall street?
2- Is it really that hard to get scholarships as an International student?
3- Is it true that as a female it’ll be easier to get into a finance major? (I’ve hear this around but tbh I don’t know what to think of it)
4- Can I get internships if I’m an International student?
5- I need help with reach schools cause the ones I have on my list right now, are very hard to get into. So i’d like some suggestions!

Thank you soooo much!

@QueenE Obviously Penn is obviously a great fit for your interests. Penn devotes about $8 million to international student financial aid each year and it is not need blind for international students (i.e. non-US, non-Canadian and non-Mexican students). This means that asking for aid will affect your admission decision. Of course that doesn’t mean you cannot get in, but it makes it more competitive to get financial aid and even get in (because your need affects your admissions chances).
The only schools that are need blind for international students are Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT and Amherst College.

Also yes you can get business internships as an international student. Just like with all students it is easier to do so from major target schools (for example Penn, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Cornell etc) than from non-targets, but it is definitely possible to do so from non-targets too if you work extra hard and put your mind to it.

What are your test scores?

Clarify your “budget”. You say you’re looking for schools in the $20-30K range. Is that total cost or tuition? How much can your family pay per year?

Total cost, I’d prefer it to be in that bracket but if not it doesn’t matter since I’m willing to take out loans, etc. I just need more school suggestions since I feel like my safety list is lacking.
Also, I haven’t taken the tests yet since the school year in my country is different and along with that I travel abroad during summers so, I have to wait until June 2017 or maybe March to take the tests.
Thank you!

Your country would lend you money to use at a school here in the US?
