So far, Bowdoin and Colby are favorites with Middlebury, Wesleyan, and UMI as well. I want to go into neuroscience / psychology so any schools with good science programs are welcome.

Basically, I'm looking for a school that won't kill me, but where I'll still be pushed and challenged. I'm not that much of a partier but I certainly don't want the school to be dead all the time. I like schools that are outdoors-y, casual, friendly, intellectual, etc.

Location isn't that important to me; I love the outdoors but I also go to NYC all the time. Obviously I like many schools in the NE but I'm open to ones across the country. Financial Aid isn't that important to me either.

For similar personality types to your favorites, I would look at Williams and Hamilton. For a less selective, Mt. Holyoke. If finances are truly not an issue, then consider applying ED to your #1. For LACs submit a music supplement. This would be a boost at Williams, especially.

Some outdoorsy LACs that are a little off the beaten New England path:

Carleton (one of the highest proportions of science majors of any LAC; has a big beautiful arboretum adjacent to campus)

Colorado College (also has a relatively high percentage of science majors; gorgeous Rocky Mountain setting; very outdoorsy)

Whitman College (another outdoorsy Western college; check out its “Semester in the West” program)

St. Mary’s College of MD (Maryland’s public “honors college”; psych is tied for most popular major; gorgeous waterfront setting)

hendrix college is calling out !
the best hidden gem! do not be scared off by the location. many NEW YORKERS live in a bubble.

Reed and Lewis and Clark. Beautiful campuses right outside Portland OR.

St Lawrence University NY…
