Hi!
I'm an only child and I have no idea where to start for my college searching journey. I'm sure there are many seasoned CC'ers here who might be willing to help a lost soul out? Any college suggestions would be great.

GPA: 94.7/100
Class Rank: N/a but I assume top 10%
Class Size: ~350

Public NJ School
PSAT:
Soph: 196
Junior: 219
SAT (Jan): 2100 CR:670 M: 700 W: 730, will retake in March, aiming for 2200+

AP's: Chinese (5)
Currently taking:
AP Chem (projected score 4/5)
AP LAC (project score 5)

Next year: AP Calc AB, AP Lit, AP Gov, AP Stats

Extracurriculars: I dabble in stuff, in several Honors Societies, and am part of school choir, nothing extraordinary.

Income bracket ~ 160k/year (money not too big of a problem)

I like schools that are in cities or near (within 30 miles) and either on the west coast or east coast.
I probably will go to a school as an undeclared major...

Any suggestions for colleges that are matches?
I know this is really nothing to go by, but anything is helpful!

Are you looking for a midsize to large research university or a smaller liberal arts college? This will be an important factor in choosing a college, though you may decide to apply to a mix of the two.

Also, do you have any idea of what type of major you are interested in pursuing?

But yes, what general area of majors (e.g. humanities, social studies, physical science, biological science) you are interested in would help others help you.

Take time to visit colleges near you, whether you want to go to them or not, as that should give you an idea of whether you like large, medium, or small schools the best. Without knowing that, there are way too many schools people can suggest.

Agree with Creekland. We started driving through college campuses with my son whenever we travelled so he could see different types of schools (sizes, locations, etc) and start to narrow down what he liked and didn’t like. It really helped narrow the focus to Med/Large schools in the SE.

There are simply too many schools to mention that meet your wide open criteria.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions! I think I’m looking towards liberal arts schools. I visited Haverford & Swarthmore today and fell in love with both schools.

I’ll take those quizzes and check out Fiske Guide ASAP.
