B O S T O N

Ann Arbor sucks.

I cant believe im the only person who has said athens, ohio... i guess im the only one who has been there

Cambridge (MA), Princeton, and Georgetown.

"Crabtown" -- Annapolis, MD -- whether you are a Mid or a Johnnie is a great town.

Evanston (Northwestern) and Ann Arbor (Michigan).

-Providence, Rhode Island (Brown)
-Cambridge, MA (and pretty much all of Boston)
-Claremont, CA (Claremont schools - Pomona, CMC, Harvey Mudd, Scripps, Pitzer)
-Bronxville, NY (Sarah Lawrence)

Claremont is the most boring town on earth. Outside of the colleges there is nothing there.

I am going to Scripps next year. I love the town! There are a lot of cute shops and resteraunts. You have to be a certain type of person to like it, I guess.

I read that Bronxville sucks for the college students. In fact it was #1 on The Princeton Review's list of "Town-Gown Relations Are Strained."

I haven't been there, but it seems to be a big indication...especially since I have heard students say that the only fun thing to do off campus is go to the nyc, which is expensive.

I see that a couple people have mentioned Annapolis, MD for Johnnies. What about Santa Fe, NM with the other Johnnies? That's where I will be next year. I wonder what it is like compared to Annapolis. Anyone know?

^^^^^^^

Santa Fe is a blast. Breakfast at Pasqual's is the best!!

http://www.pasquals.com/

Hehe. Thanks for the tip! I will write that down.

Yes, the upper middle class citizens of Bronxville hate the Sarah Lawrence students, but the town itself is kind of cute, and the houses are really pretty. The town of Yonkers, next door, is supposed to be really artsy and fun.

I read that the college is in Yonkers, but the offices are in Bronxville because it sounds better to parents than Yonkers...

Don't quote me on that or anything. I just read it, that's all. I thought it was funny and interesting, though I am unsure if it is true.

I have been to Sarah Lawrence. It kind of takes up both towns, but the address is Bronxville and most of the school is in Bronxville. The two towns are tiny though, so they are basically the same thing.

New York is the best college "town" ever, although I really question Princeton Review's ranking of college towns when they say

Columbia University
6-10. Yadda yadda yaddda

NYU

I don't know, but last time I looked Columbia and NYU are in the same city. Well Greenwich Village is a much hipper, safer area anyway.

Berkeley's a TERRIBLE college town. Too hilly for my taste.

Naperville, Illinois for North Central College

No crabs and "Surrender the booty" shirts. I really don't know about that campus setting but I'm sure it is more modern since DTA is more historical and nautical.

Nashville is a nice big city, but I focus attention to the West End, where you'll find Hillsboro Village adjacent to Vanderbilt University and Belmont University (regional Baptist-affiliated college). You'll find unique shops and coffeehouses, an arthouse theatre, an independent bookstore, and the best breakfast in Nashville at the Pancake Pantry.
