College transfer

If I were to attend Simmons my first semester freshman year then transfer to UMass Boston for second semester freshman year, then transferring to Northeastern my sophomore year; would Northeastern not accept me because I transferred a lot?
Plz help

Why not go straight from Simmons to Northeastern?

^^^ Exactly. Choose your first university with the plan to stay there for all four years. If you are unhappy, then apply for transfer.

Transferring after one semester, and then immediately transferring again doesn’t make much sense. If you are still thinking that Simmons might turn out to be too expensive, I suppose I can understand having the back-up plan of transferring to UMass Boston after one semester. But if you find that you have to do that, you should plan to stay at UMass Boston long enough to collect decent letters of recommendation before trying to transfer again.

Would it make sense for you to just take a gap year and apply to a new list? That way you could apply to Northeastern as a freshman applicant and your chances for decent financial aid would be better.

Because it is pricey for me and if I find out that I prefer UMass Boston at the time I would want to transfer. Then transfer to NU for my junior year.

Do not start out a college you know (or suspect) you cannot afford.

There are dozens of reasons why Northeastern might or might not accept you. If you didn’t get in to Northeastern (is my assumption correct?) then figure out your next best option and let it go. But planning to only stay at College 1 for a few months, then transfer to College 2 with the ultimate goal of getting in to College 3 seems to me like a sure fire way of never settling in, likely needing an extra semester to make up for credits which don’t transfer, etc.

do u realize how much of a pain in the a** it is to transfer just once? you have to write essays upon essays, move around, and change curriculum in hopes that your credits and time will actually transfer. it’s honestly not as easy as u make it to be. i would never in my life want to transfer colleges 3 times, especially two in ONE year. going into college with this mindset only makes you hate the college you are going to even more. go to simmons and transfer to northeastern soph or junior year. there is no reason to transfer this many times.

Thank you
If Simmons is kiKind of pricey for me should I just go to UMass Boston first and transfer to Northeastern University even though I’m not sure I might get excepted to Northeastern University I wish to transfer to NU to biotechnology program

Yes, if your goal is to transfer, you should start at the least expensive option and plan to transfer directly from that school (as long as you will still be successful there). Also, do not put all your eggs in one basket. When considering transferring, you should be applying to many schools, not just Northeastern, in the event that you are not accepted. Also, many schools are only need-aware for transfer students, instead of need-blind, so you also need to be very aware about the affordability of the schools.

“if your goal is to transfer, you should start at the least expensive option”

You should certainly start at a school that is affordable. If you take your first two years at an affordable school, and then transfer to a higher ranked school, you still get your degree from the higher ranked school.

Also, if you are going to start at one university hoping to transfer, make an effort to keep your grades up. Stay ahead in your work and do not party unless you are well ahead in every class that you are taking. Also, as @balletkat says, “do not put all your eggs in one basket” when you are looking to transfer.

Do transfer students get any aid at those schools? The grants that freshmen get aren’t usually available to transfer students. Make sure the school you start at is affordable all 4 years, because if finances are an issue transferring might not be affordable.
